Some dog lovers might think that keeping a puppy or dog in a crate is a mean thing to do. Quite to the contrary my friends. Dogs are decendants of wolves. And wolves are creatures that live in dens. A crate is like a den to dogs. Crate training is important. It will help with dog potty problems and is great for potty training. It is also a place of refuge. If properly sized for your pooch, it will become a space they will come to love. Your dog should be able to stand up, turn around and lay down stretched out in his crate. Dogs should not, however, be left locked in their crate for long periods of time. In most cases, they should not be left in a crate for more than a few hours.
